[...] As I mentioned over on my WebbyOnline blog last month, I began using Windows Vista on my main computer. Some may think I am stupid for doing it, but given the circumstances at the time (a hard drive crash), I figured then was a good time to do it. I have now been using Vista as my primary OS on my main computer for about a month now. It’s time to make my list of gripes official. Here goes, in no particular order: [...]

You might try checking out mozy.com, that service Jason recommended above. I signed up for the free 2 gig account and so far I'm liking it. I may very well sign up for the paid account so I can back up everything online.

I must be a bit old-fashioned still, but I'm still a little hot and bothered about the idea of all my documents sitting up at Google.

Man, that sounds rough. I've been trying to do more and more of my work online using things like Google Docs for this reason, and backing up my media files to an external HD. I'd like to get those online too, but haven't found a reasonably priced service for my gigs yet.

[...] As you can read about over on WebbyOnline.com, I had an interesting computer experience toward the end of this last week. Long story short, my hard drive crashed and I decided to install Windows Vista. Being that I decided on this, I chose to start from scratch and that means reinstalling everything and then restoring all my data. One of the programs I had on Windows XP was MusicMatch Jukebox. With that software, I subscribed to the On Demand service where I could get streaming music off the internet all I wanted. I loved it because I like to listen to stuff while I work at the computer (which is essentially all day). Problem was that Musicmatch had gone the way of the dodo because Yahoo bought it. Yahoo bought Musicmatch back in 2004 for $160 million. That means I couldn’t find MusicMatch Jukebox anymore. So, I downloaded Yahoo Music Jukebox… [...]

Thanks Jay. I will definitely check out Mozy.com. Looks pretty nice. Its one of those things that you take for granted until you get bit by it. I'm glad I was at least backing up with Ghost. I did lose a couple weeks worth of stuff, but that's a hell of a lot better than all of it. :)

Sorry to hear about your hassles.

I've been using a service called Mozy.com to automatically back up at least the critical stuff on a daily basis. It uploads to a remote service. The really nice thing is it only backs up files (or even portions of files) that have changed.

The first backup will take several hours or more to upload, but after that, other incremental backups go rather quickly.
