Twitter - I Finally Found a Use

I have been a little wishy-washy on this whole Twitter thing. But, now I am a little less so. Why? Because I think I have finally settled on a reason why I will use it.

Twitter is easily one of those things you put into the “fad” category. And perhaps it is a bad, who knows. At it’s core, Twitter is nothing but a mini-blog service. REAL mini (only 140 character “posts” are allowed). But, what really turns this from a stupid idea into a truly useful application is the merging of this service with SMS and instant messaging technologies. And what really made me want to use Twitter is the Twitter Tools plugin for Wordpress, written by Alex King. You will see that I have Twitter integrated into the right sidebar of this website, along with the homepage of PC Mechanic.

Aside from group notifications via text messaging (which I saw first hand at BlogOrlando), using Twitter as a mini-blog for your site is a really cool application.

I’m still not sold on Twitter. Do people REALLY care that I just picked my dinner out of my teeth? Or that I’m sitting here watching Jason and the Argonauts? I doubt it.
