Bloggers + Apple = Techmeme Echo Chamber
OK, we all know that bloggers are fascinated by Apple. We love to follow what Apple does. I personally really dig Apple hardware and I am generally more excited about what Apple does than what another computer company does. Good. Groovy.
But, let us look at Techmeme right now:

That entire red area is all echo chamber of today’s Iphone launch. Are you kidding me? The next section beneath that is about Steve Jobs keynote.
How many bloggers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
At PCMech, I initially thought that we had to post a story about this Iphone launch. Then this evening, I ask: why? Every site in the known world is talking about the same thing. There is literally NOTHING novel to say about it. Quite frankly, there wasn’t anything incredibly novel to say this morning either. We all saw this Iphone launch coming. Who didn’t know we were going to see an Iphone launch from WWDC?
So, am I being negligent to skip the story on PCMech?
@4fthawaiian on Twitter replied to me about this saying:
If everyone employed those standards there would only be 1 or 2 tech blogs in the entire interwebs

Nah, I doubt that. There might be a lot of us bloggers interested in the same thing, but it is our job to find some unique angle when we can. If we’re talking about a simple news story, sometimes just joining the echo chamber gets us nowhere. Unless, of course, the only aim is to get onto Techmeme in the first place.
