I just recently started to blog and even more recently started to realize the importance of interacting with your readers and the importance of being yourself...so far, I have been like your wife(or as your wife was at this time)...hesitant to share myself. Sure, there are privacy concerns online. But, I also think some worry about it too much. You can inject personality into your blog without your audience knowing everything about you. I must confess I am like your wife. I have a Blogger account which is open only to me, Windows Live Spaces account open to just family(invited) and Facebook which I operate really tightly and only invite some family and some people. I guess I've read a number of articles warning us about how careful we need to be when sharing our lives online. Maybe these articles are media scare stories and are over the top. Anyway your blog has got me thinking about challenging some of my concerns re privacy. I read this with real interest David. I must confess I am like your wife.
