Best Way To Use Twitter To Promote Your Blog [#9]

In this ProBlogger Flip Tip, I answer a question submitted by Janet Johnson:

What is the best way to use Twitter to promote your blog?

There are two answers to this question:

  1. Use Twitterfeed to pipe your latest blog content into your Twitter account automatically.
  2. Be social.

When it comes to “being social”, I mean be yourself and interact with the Twitter community. You want to manually post things to Twitter which build relationships with your followers. Twitter is all about relationships. Be real, be personable, and you’ll do well on Twitter.

The value of sites like Twitter (aside from building relationships, of course) is to use it to draw people to your blog. You do that by letting them see your latest blog posts, and by being a person that they feel an affinity toward so as to get them to care what you have to say.

    Have a great day!
  • I signed up my blog in Twitterfeed, but it never did anything.
  • you should write about it in twitip as guest..
sure it will be great post..

in my previous experience with twitter,
the one that subscribe me, just
    to promote themselve without actually
care about me.. that why i stop
doing twitter thing for a while..
    what you think about it?
  • Sometimes people for get what conversations are. So many times I have seen "marketers" get on twitter and just post what they are going and how they are helping those around them make a lot of money or something like that. They don't contribute.

One time I asked one tweet if he did anything else other than SEO. he wrote back (DM mind you) that he hung out with his kids and had a great time. REALLY. awesome! I would get glad to follow a dad who loves his kids enough to spend time with them. However, he just went back to what he was doing. Sad I know.
  • Thanks for answering my question...I'll figure this Twitter thing out yet!
    Thanks again!
    Janet
  • John: You just did. Thanks!
