Going Viral on Twitter – Cool New Tool

A couple of good buddies of mine are just today launching a brand new piece of software. It is called Viral Tweets. Here’s what it does…

You put a form on your website. You want people to retweet a message of your choosing in order to opt-in to something else. The form has the tweet pre-filled. They just enter their username and password for Twitter and the message is retweeted. In the process, they can also follow you on Twitter.

The power of this is that you are incentivizing them to help your message go viral on Twitter (and you’re gaining followers while you’re at it).

In addition to seeing Ryan’s and Kyle’s message go insanely viral on Twitter, I have also watched Ryan gain about 2,200 followers in the span of a couple weeks. Hell, its probably been less than that. Kyle is about to break 1,000 followers.

I’ve told Ryan that I need to engage in a Twitter war with him because now he’s got more followers than me! ;) Of course, he’s cheating. ;)

But, you can, too. They’re giving this thing away for free right now, so go check it out.

  • I believe content is king too....but there's no denying the benefits of social media at this point in the game. Now that my new blog posts automatically show up in my Facebook newsfeed, I've opened up a whole new source of regular traffic.

Think I'm going to give this software a try and see what happens.
  • Twitter is great if you don't mind spending all your time online as I see so many people seem to have endless amounts of time posting there. I still am a beleiver in quality posts and content is king rather than twitter.
  • Alex
This seems to me like a pyramid scheme.
  • I have had good luck with promoting twitter campaigns of others thought my account and drawing followers. Then I can later promote my own articles and affiliate campaigns to those same followers. Search blogs or twitter itself for such retweet campaigns.
  • Oh yeah... about the follower count...

Just wanted to mention ... Kyle's gunning for you too... he wanted me to tell you that. ;)
  • Hey Dan,

That's actually NOT the case. When I had this software created for me ... I had about 600 followers.

I now have over 3,000 as a direct result of using it.

So, although it helps to have more followers to spread a message on Twitter with Viral Tweets, it is not a necessity.

    Have a good one,

    Ryan

p.s. Thanks David for the great review!
  • I really get the impression that you have to have a really good following for any of this to work. I'm thinking over 5000 followers.
  • Its not a problem, Steve. They are not recording passwords. The password is only so their script can access the Twitter API on your behalf.

Trust me, I know these guys PERSONALLY. They're not taking over anybody's Twitter accounts. Nor are they, by far, the only people asking for passwords. Any third-party Twitter system out there asks for your password and, again, it is because of the API.
  • I'm not going enter my Twitter password and allow someone else to take over my account. Nor would I ask others to give up their passwords.
