Secret To Market Domination: Be Everywhere

OK, I know the title sounds a little silly, but there is some truth to this message. As a blogger, you know how difficult it can be to dominate your niche. This is especially true if you are in the “make money online” niche, which is become more competitive by the day.
These days, just having a blog isn’t enough to corner your own part of the market. You’ve got to have a multi-faceted strategy that not only helps to define you as a player in the market, but also allows your fans and readers to find you where they feel most comfortable.
If you look at the top of David’s blog, you’ll see a link for each of the major social networking/media sites. You can click on those links and add him as a friend on each site if you choose, which means that you’ll have access to his newest stuff the minute it is published. Now just think for a minute…if you are more of a YouTube junkie and only read blogs occasionally, then where are you more likely to find David’s stuff? The same is true of people that use Facebook or LinkedIn, etc.
David has done a remarkable job of owning every portion of his internet real estate possible and you should do the same. Even if you don’t make videos of your own (although you should), you still need to be accessible in every part of the market. Some people just don’t like reading blogs, but if they want to see your other stuff, then you should give it to them.
Don’t think that you can hide in your little URL and that people will storm the gates trying to find you. It may have been this easy once, but these days you need to be everywhere at once. Now I know the task of actively monitoring a dozen social networks can be tedious, but you can easily schedule your updates so that you aren’t sitting on each site all day long. Check invites on a Monday, upload new content on Tuesday, and respond/follow up on Wednesday. It really doesn’t matter how you do it, what really matters is that you are there to be found. Just make sure that each and every profile links back to a specific page, such as your blog. This creates a funnel of traffic to your blog that can double, if not triple, your popularity overnight.
Believe it or not, creating avatars on every social media engine also validates you as an authority. When you own a station or channel on each of these sites, you exude a confidence and professionalism that says you are accessible and transparent. This is how people connect these days, and when you tell people to find you on these sites, you are basically telling them that you get it.
To some old school types, it might seem like you are caving in to social pressure and giving away more of your precious time, but I believe that you are actually doing the opposite. You are simply positioning yourself where people can find you so that you don’t have to spend time finding them. Once they find you, then they can tune in whenever and wherever they want.
It is a beautiful model really and if you don’t understand the importance of it then you just might be in the wrong business.
