Official: My Wife Is Pregnant

In the middle of the Blog Masters Club launch, I leaked the fact on Twitter that my wife was pregnant with our #2.

I wanted to go ahead and make it official here on my blog, and give you the story.

In short, Malika is close to 3 months pregnant. We’ve actually known for at least 6 weeks. You might ask why we kept it private?

Because she told me to. :) And smart husbands obey. ;)

My wife is a more private person than I am. To me, telling my online friends that we’re pregnant isn’t that big of a deal. But, she didn’t want anybody except for close family knowing. So, I had to wait for her to be OK with it.

Last week, she officially told the world on her own blog. In fact, she’s even doing weekly video updates now for those of you who want to follow along. Once she started doing that, it gave me the green light to tell you guys.

Of course, being in the middle of a product launch, I didn’t want to make it all about my family. I also didn’t want anybody to think that I was using it as some sort of marketing tool. :) On my sales page, I do mention Elyana (my first daughter) several times because her birth was a strong motivating factor for me to really put my business into hyperdrive.

So, life is on it’s way to becoming even more interesting. :)

It is adventurous being a blogger and using that to make a living enough to now support a family with TWO kids. More motivation for me, I guess.

I’m going to have to exercise more. Like a lot of dads, I gained weight during the last one. Didn’t want my wife to feel left out (that’s my excuse). But, I can’t do that again or my damn chair will break! ;)

  • Congratulations David that is so exciting that your wife is so into blogging too. It looks like you guys are very good at taking pictures. I am sure the little one is excited about the new baby. My 7 year old is so good to the 1 year old but the 1 year old is mean to by older one. Good luck to both of you.

    Congrats! We found out in the spring that we're expecting #2 as well. Like your first was your kick in the pants for your blogging career, our second was the impetus for me to join your Blogmasters Club. Now I've just got to buckle down and get some immediate priorities out of the way so I can focus on that.

  • Hey Dave, Congrats... That's awesome news... My wife and I are about 3 months along with our #2 as well... Due Feb. 6ish... We're from the states, but we're having our baby here in Uruguay... I just sent my wife the link to your wife's blog and told her to follow it...

    Don't be afraid to throw in a "Daddy" post every once in a while, even through your product launch... If you loose subscribers from it, they weren't worth anything anyway...

    I have two little boys myself, one and three. My 3 year old has learned that daddy blogs. LOL He doesn't know what that means, but he knows I do it and it's on the computer.

    I recently spliced together a few video outtakes from some of the video tutorials I've done. In one of them, I have the baby monitor sitting on my desk and during my video tutorial my 1 year old son decides to chime in. (hope you don't mind the link)

  • Congratulations. Three months seems to be the convention to avoid letting people know and then having a miscarriage. After three months, the chances are much smaller.

  • David, congratulations to the both of you. Kids are awesome I have 3 and they motivate and distract me plenty but they make me a better person.

    I also gained weight with number 1 and 3 but then lost with number 2 so maybe you will have the same results with number 2 wishing you and your wife a happy heathy child.
