Confessions of a Six Figure Professional Blogger

Do You Have Any Blogging New Years Resolutions?

We have reached 2010. And if you’ve read my free report on ProBlogging in 2010, you know I’m pretty excited about it.

Most of us make some resolutions for the new year. I always do.

Have you made any blogging new years resolutions for 2010? If so, what are they?

What are your plans? Income goals? Traffic goals?

My plans are coming together and I’m hitting the ground running in January. I’m going to be working to vastly increase my brand in the blogging space this year. I’ve got some product launches planned. I’ve got plans to expand my reach beyond this blog (more on that when the time is right). I may be working with some others on some joint projects. I’ll likely be doing more guest posting and more webinars for my subscribers.

Now, your turn. Post your comment below.

It has been slow going with my blog since the launch in October. I had some illness and a death in the family that had me traveling much of November and December. It has been a larger undertaking than I realized, but I am re-energized for the coming year to be more consistent. Thanks for all the tips and encouragement.

My blog has been slow going since the launch in October with some illness and a death in the family that had me traveling a lot. It has been a much larger undertaking than I thought, but I am re-energized for the new year and appreciate all the tips and encouragement you give hear.
  • I had no intentions of resolutions this year - just working harder. But, the more I think about it the more I've decided to post goals on my blog and what I'm going through/dealing with. Public accountability. Maybe if I have so many eyes on me I won't want to fail. But, a blog is impersonal. So, maybe I'm wrong. We'll see.
  • I am going to make it happen this year!
  • Mine is to push more time and effort on my blogging career, try to learn more and implement them.
  • I have plenty of blogging goals.

My main goal is to earn $5,000 in income in one month from a membership site I just began working on.

In order to achieve this goal, I have many sub goals like guest post submissions, comments, etc...
  • Nice. And a membership site is the way to go. Combined with a blog - killer combo.
  • I have a few. Mostly to build my traffic and continue to work on writing good content that my audience wants to read.
I intend to launch a couple of products within 6 months.
Main goal, resolution, plan... whatever you want to call it, is to take it slow and steady. Steady goes it! I have an old habit in many areas of my life to jump in full board without building a solid foundation. That is my main focus.
  • Sounds good. Don't make the mistake of thinking growth has to be slow, though. It can be fast. Its just about doing the right things.
  • Hey brother,
My focus is on goals in 2010 are things I have the power to actually do:

My traffic for TonyTeegarden.com for the year was 21,845 unique visitors. My goal is to double that for the year, through:
    1. Guest posting
    2. Webinars
    3. More engagement with other fellow bloggers
    4. More video content
    5. And of course focusing on kick ass content

Of course this will also accomplish my other goal of building my list with new subscribers

My other goal is to come out with my own product in the next 30 days besides the Blog Action Class I just launched.

I'm going to start a Beyond the Blog section which is a paid area where I go inside and give video "how to's" of the philosophies & topics I write about. (thank you for that idea btw)
  • Cool, dude. [Mastermind secret handshake here]. ;-)
  • Hey David...

My plans are to get my new guyKNOWLEDGY.com site off and running, to write my first eBook to be released in February for FREE, to build traffic to the site via hard work and doing some guest posting, and to build an income through affiliate marketing and creating my own line of products.

That's just to name a few. Also working on guyTV, which will be a weekly video through guyknowledgy.com. Hmmmm... Much more but I'll post that over at forty2fifty.

    Awesome working your doing...
  • I'm going to utilize email more to engage my readers more regularly and lay the foundation for promoting new products I'll be releasing this year.

As far as resolutions, I want to be more proactive this year, setting specific goals, putting dates on them and MAKING THEM HAPPEN.
  • I've posted my actual objectives in terms of numbers on the blog. But generally for me, where 2009 was learning and discovery, 2010 is all about growth and creating real authority.

I'm also confident of beating Nathan to 50,000 on Alexa. Losing the race (just) with him to 100k cost me a bottle of Champagne. Thinking of upping the stakes this time.......
  • Nice. :-)
  • I don't like to call them resolutions, more like goals. The big one is full time income, with a whole lot of smaller goals along the way. Doing everything from creating new products, working to increase affiliate income and getting a whole lot more eyeballs on to my blog.
  • I'm going to get a book deal with Wiley - that's where my main effort is in 2010 for the blog.

Outside of that, I'll hit 50k Alexa, reach 10k readers, and do 4 guest posts per month.
  • Since I posted these publicly, here's what I have for Q1.

    1. 1000 twitter followers. I’m growing my twitter list organically, which means I manually follow after I make sure there’s a real person living at that twitter name.

    1. 1000 RSS subscribers. This will require some theme modifications.

    1. 500 Newsletter subscribers. Will very likely purchase Ultimate Footer. I’ve used footer popups before. They convert well. This might annoy some people, but my landlord will be delighted.

I have some other stuff going on, will plan rest of year in late March.
  • Yeah, try the pop-up layers that Aweber provides, too. They can be annoying, but they work. I might actually bring them back.

Would be interested to see how Ultimate Footer works for you. I have it. Tried it. Wasn't too impressed with the opt-in rate. But, that was on my tech blog. Very different niche.
  • Hello David,

Actually yes, I have blog related goals and resolutions and I already created an article on my blog recently and some friends submitted their goals as well!

Basically they evolve around getting better amount of traffic and readers, producing more quality content and generate good amount of money.

I would appreciate your feedback if you can check it out
