Why I Get Jacked Up Before I Post
This is a guest post by Nathan Hangen.
Ernest Hemingway once offered the following advice to writers:
“Write drunk, edit sober.”
It’s probably the best piece of advice I’ve ever received, and it’s served me very well over the past year.
You’re a Full-Time Blogger, Now What?
This is a guest post by Chris Guthrie from Make Money on the Internet.
Blogging is very hard work, and anyone that says otherwise isn’t telling the truth.
I know this because for the past five years, I’ve been blogging, building websites and forums etc. on a part-time basis trying to earn enough money to one day quit my job. It wasn’t until nine months ago that those efforts finally paid off, when I surpassed my day job income with my online earnings. Six months later, I lost my day job (long story). So after a couple weeks spent looking for jobs I decided that this was the gentle kick in the pants telling me it was time to voyage out on my own.
In the six months that have since followed, I’ve learned three crucial lessons I wish I would have known before I was thrust into the world of self-employment.
10 Motivational Stories of Crushing It [Winners]
I got a lot of motivational entries to my giveaway of 10 copies of Gary Vaynerchuk’s book. So many, in fact, that it took me over 2 hours to read every single one and decide on 10.
It was very difficult coming up with 10 “winners” of the book because I had well over 10 entries that really caught my eye. 22 in fact that stood out to me for various reasons, plus yet more others that were very moving. I had everything from stay-at-home mothers to people trying to rise out of the poverty of Nigeria.
Very touching and humbling and I want to thank everybody. Now, let’s get started….
Let’s Connect On Youtube
I’m not sure if you noticed, but I started doing video again.
I’m doing blogging advice and tips and the plan is to make them packed and to-the-point. Each video I do is sent out across several video sites (using TubeMogul) while I’m also posting it to my Facebook page.
I’m trying something a little different, though. I’m NOT embedding all of my videos on this blog. From time to time, I will (as I’m doing below), however I’m specifically making my videos exclusive to their respective channels. So, for that reason, I am inviting you to subscribe to my Youtube channel and connect with me on Facebook. I’ll also announce my videos on Twitter, obviously. But, if you want to stay tuned to these videos, you’ll need to connect with me over there because I’m not going to embed all my videos here on this blog.
How To Create An Events List With WordPress
When I did the recent design changes to DavidRisley.com, one of the things I wanted to do was add an events list. You can see it off in the right sidebar.
The idea behind it is simply to be able to use the blog as a central platform for all events that I do, including webinars, launches, live events – anything with a particular date assigned to it. Even if I do a call only for my students, I’ll still list it here on the blog.
From a technical perspective, this looks easy. But, it isn’t. It took me some time and testing to figure out what I’m about to show you.
Start Building An “Authority Blog” Before It’s Too Late
This is a guest post by Andrew Hansen.
I recently started a new “passion project” – a blog in the travel niche.
Like most projects, profit oriented or not, entering a new niche teaches many an interesting lesson.
Blog Giveaway: Win Copy Of Gary Vaynerchuk’s “Crush It!”
I want to give you a free copy of “Crush It”, the bestselling book by Gary Vaynerchuk.
I probably don’t even need to tell you much about Gary. Most people in our circle know who he is and what he’s about. I have read the book and it is a great one, especially for bloggers (video or otherwise).
The spirit of the book is what I admire the most. It is all about getting out there and kicking ass. However, Gary also goes into his views on how to build an online brand and a community of followers and, as the title says, cash in on your passion.
So, here’s how this is going to work. I obviously can’t afford to buy every one of my readers a copy of Gary’s book, however I have 10 copies here to give away. I want to do a contest. One which embodies the spirit of Gary’s book. So, here it is…
Project Update: Prep Work, Being Real
This is my weekly project update, where I tell you what I’ve been up to this week in my business and share what’s on my mind.
The keyword this week has been: Preparation.
How To Remain Broke As A Blogger – Guaranteed!
A lot of bloggers have a big problem. This problem plagues them despite all efforts to monetize their own blogs.
That problem is… A crappy attitude about marketing.
What I’m about to say may hit home. I’m going to go for the jugular on this, because it is absolute suicide to an online business. If I offend you, then perhaps it is because I hit a little too close to the truth. Here we go:
