Simple (But Often Overlooked) Way To Gather Testimonials (Even With Zero Products)

Social proof.

Those two words are often thrown around in marketing circles. The phrase was made popular by a book which pretty much every successful marketer has read – Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, by Dr. Robert Cialdini.

Social proof simply means showing that the group is doing what you want your prospect to do. People like to follow a group because they instinctually think that if a lot of other people are doing something, it must be for a good reason. In marketing, one of the most popular ways to demonstrate social proof is through testimonials and people generally saying awesome things.

So, I Got This Email…

This email came from somebody who was evaluating my Blog Masters Club coaching program. I thought I would use this email – and my response – as a blog post. Because the concerns he brings up are VERY common and I have a feeling a LOT of people think this way when looking at the [...]

4 Killer Pricing Strategies To Have Your Prospects Hyper-Ventilating

Let’s talk marketing, shall we?

Any product you sell online, you have to introduce a sense of urgency and scarcity. You want your prospect to feel compelled to take action – right then and there. You want them to feel as if they’re running the risk of losing out on something.

Failure to do this usually results in lackluster sales.

A Simple Calculation That Can Make The Difference Between Success and Failure

The numbers don’t lie. The problem is, many of us don’t know the numbers and pay little to no attention to them.

I’m not talking about your website metrics. I’m talking about something bigger than that, yet much simpler. That simple metric is…

What is your TIME worth?

Have you ever actually calculated it?

The Thinking Behind the DavidRisley.com Re-Design

I think one of the curses of running your own website is that you find yourself getting tired of the way it looks.

Combine that with the know-how of doing design and coding – and the fact that I enjoy it – and it makes for a deadly combination. One that can easily lead to a lot of wasted time tinkering with a web design (wasted because it doesn’t really make me money).

But, it WAS time for this site to get a makeover. A lot of people seemed to like the old one (I routinely had people asking me who designed it… the answer is me), but it was time to re-do things with some adjusted specs.

How To Find and Hire Writers For Your Blog (The Complete Guide)

One of the big bottlenecks for blogging is, ironically, the actual blogging.

It can be pretty time intensive creating all your own content. So, depending on your business model and your intentions, there are times when hiring other writers is the best way to go. It is what I do over on PCMech and, were it not for them, PCMech wouldn’t exist. I simply don’t have time to keep up with that site and this one all by myself.

Blogworld East 2011 Wrap-Up

For the blogger side of the conference circuit, Blogworld is and remains my favorite such conference. It is huge (and growing) and I just love watching it develop.

This year was different. Rather than a single conference in Vegas, this year it was broken up into an East and West edition. Blogworld East in New York City, and Blogworld West will be held in Los Angeles in early November.

This year was also different because I found myself in the position of track organizer. So, rather than doing the usual speaker thing, I instead was in charge of organizing all the speakers on the monetization track.

How To Handle Negative or Annoying Feedback (Without Blowing Your Lid)

Apparently, when I talk about my family, it can be annoying. At least that’s the feedback I got from a subscriber earlier this week. This person sent me a private email (which will remain private) in response to an email to my list where I mentioned that I was hanging with my kids and my [...]
