Bloggers, What Went Wrong?

Something went wrong. There are simply too many bloggers out there who are struggling to get good traffic numbers and/or make any money with their blogs. And there are some people who would probably look at those bloggers and LAUGH!

money_labyrinthI believe that bloggers are responsible for a huge chunk of the valuable content available on the Internet today. I mean, if you look at the typical blogger, you will see a person who does a lot of writing, takes their post quality seriously, and then puts it out on the Internet without charging a dime for it.

All of these bloggers out there are producing content. It takes real time and real sweat to write good content. When people search for solutions to their problems on Google, there is a high chance that the answer to their question will be found in a blog post somewhere on the Internet.

Bloggers are valuable. Yet, they are underpaid. Grossly so.

The average annual income of the top 10% of bloggers who make any money online is only $19,000 (according to the 2008 Technorati State of the Blogosphere). So, of all the bloggers , probably a small percentage of them are making any money at all. And, of those people, the top 10% are earning a measly $19,000 annually.

I don’t know about you, but I cannot live off of $19,000 per year. I understand that, to many bloggers, this might seem like a fortune but I think that is because of the unfortunate habit of making NO money. And that isn’t right. Not when what you are doing is so valuable to your market.

My position is that if you actually desire to make an income through your blogging and you are doing something which is of value to your audience, then you should be able to do well enough to make a living from it.

What went wrong? Why are most bloggers making such little money while others who aren’t producing hardly a fraction of the quality content are making full-time livings on the internet? What’s the missing X-factor? Why are you missing out?

I most certainly have my view on it, and I have put it down into a PDF downloadable report as well as a brand new video. Both the report and the video are your’s free and you can grab your copy at BlogWealthGap.com.

Over the course of a several days, I will be leading up to the launch of a new coaching program called Blog Masters Club. I look forward to telling you more about it. If you want to move beyond the free content on this blog and move into a structured program where I’m going to work with you to build up your online blog-based business, then you’ll want to learn more about it.

I look forward to your comments on this first of two reports coming your way!

    Hi David,

Good work! You’ve clearly list out the characteristics of bloggers and internet marketers in your report.

It’s true that some internet marketers are not updating their blogs as regularly.

And it’s becoming a trend that bloggers are beginning to be very good marketers especially in launching their own products and membership sites.

I believe one of the factors is the trust bloggers have built over time with their readers that helps them in maximising their marketing efforts and conversion rates.

By the way, what’s the difference between your 3daymoney and Blog Masters Club?

Bloggers who are good marketers are still heavily in the minority, unfortunately.

3DayMoney is an intro-level video course designed to give an overview of how to make money this way. Blog Masters Club will be a much more in-depth, personal coaching program where I’ll be going into more advanced stuff as well as working much more closely with members to help them with their specific blogs.

Great information as always David. I really enjoyed the PDF and am interested to hear more about your Blog Masters Club.

We will be launching our new blog soon and it is built with “providing great information”, but it is also designed to hopefully generate income from the beginning.

Blog in themselves (to me) are just a way to build a relationship and trust with your readers. To really make good money with a blog, you need to create other products and services, and use your blog as a tool to help sell those products.

I really like the video on blogwealthgap. I don’t make the money like you. I am like all the other bloggers and try to get the most visitors that we can and make little bit of money if we can. I made $79 in May. It is something but nothing to live off of. I am going to keep trying and truck along until I get it one day. Greg Ellison

As a mainly political blogger I have to say making money on my sites is a chore, therefore am looking forward to seeing some ideas for monetizing.

    David,
That was a great pdf and video. A lot of us new bloggers sometimes miss the obvious and common sense, which you point out. Being a blogger is not easy, when you hear about it in the news they make it seem so simple, of course its not!
Internet marketing is essential for being successful. I hope in future videos you give tips on how to increase traffic via advertising. You can only do so much “free” advertising in social networking out there, etc. Will the amount you spend be worth it? Depends on “how” its done, hope you cover that in the future!

An interesting if depressing post! The PDF looks interesting and I am interested to see what you have up your sleeve for the Blog Masters Club. Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there, not surprisingly generally put out to make money. Hopefully the Blog Masters Club will cut through some of the misinformation.

Nice. People not being successful is all dealing with their niche and their mindset and attitude towards blogging. If you are really intense about it and focused then you should do well. Especially if you are knowledgeable and have a good support system with other bloggers.

I agree totally with Kenny except that I feel my time is better spent creating quality posts than to dialing for dollars.
