Treating Your Blog Like A Business – Blogworld Expo Panel

Some of you may know already, but if not, here ya go. :)

I will be speaking this year at BlogWorld Expo in Las Vegas. I’ll be on a panel with my friends Lisa Morosky, Nathan Hangen, and Mike Cliff-Jones. And we’ll be talking about how to treat your blog like a business. Ironically, that’s the title of our presentation. Cuz we’re creative like that. :)

We’ll be doing our thing on Saturday, October 16th, at 11AM. It’ll be in Islander D/5, wherever that is (I’ve not yet been in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center).

As my long-time readers know, this is a subject near and dear to my heart. Last year, I was still rather shocked that so many bloggers kept coming to the sessions on monetization, only to ask questions which clearly showed they were thinking like bloggers and not business owners. As our summary of our panel states:

A blog isn’t a real business – it should be the front-end lead generator for an actual sales funnel designed to pour out money.

So, we’re going to lay it out for ya. And (sneak peak), I think we’re going to line up a few things to give away to you when you show up to our panel. It’ll be digital stuff, but super useful in order to help you guys put what we say to use.

I look forward to meeting as many of you guys as possible. :)

Ok, first comment then: anyone who doesn’t know how to compute the opportunity cost of writing a blog post probably ought to go to this session.

Personal example: I’m not writing many blog posts myself right now, because it’s too expensive.

A lot of people are now blogging. They do blogging not just for personal but as business. They could earn money from their blogs. It really depends on how you use your blog if it’s for personal use or for business.

Good luck David… Wish I could be there.
