The Secret To Attracting More Comments On Your Blog
Blogs that don’t get any comments from the readers look rather dead. It is negative social proof. If somebody comes to the site and they see no comments, their impression is likely to be that the blog must not be that good. So, how do you battle this? What’s the secret sauce?

January 2009 Blogging Income Report
OK, it’s that time again. Time to check in and see how I did last month as a problogger. So, let’s head over to Quickbooks and check it out.
In the month of January, I generated $21,129.30. I actually collected $15,297.41, with the difference being collected during the month of February (which is typical for a bulk of my advertising revenue).
The breakdown is as follows:
- Advertising: $6,122.40
- Affiliate Programs: $1,575.76
- Membership Fees & Book/CD Sales: $13,398.98
Revenue from the membership program was much higher than usual this month due to the promotion I did at the beginning of the month (full story in my report The Future of Blogging Income).
Almost all revenue was generated by PCMech.com, however even this site is beginning to generate a little bit of revenue by way of affiliate commissions.
And as I state every month, this is GROSS income. Expenses come out of this, so this is not my “take home pay”.
I’m also not looking forward to my income taxes this year.
Stay tuned to David Risley dot com where I will continue to lay out how I do what I do and give my take on the world of problogging. I thank you all for being a reader!
How To Use Facebook to Market Your Blog
We all know Facebook is huge. Just how huge it is, though, is something to behold. The latest estimates I’ve heard is that Facebook is signing up around 450,000 new users – PER DAY. With those kinds of numbers, Facebook starts to stand out as one hell of a marketing opportunity.

Interviewed By Yaro Starak
Last night, Yaro Starak from Entrepreneurs-Journey.com posted an interview of your’s truly.
It was great to finally meet Yaro (at least via more than an email). I have been keeping up with Yaro’s blog for some time, well before I was an active player in this market. He is a really nice guy and knows his stuff. One of the things that I think really makes Yaro stand out in this market is that he is one of the seemingly few bloggers who actually understands marketing strategy.
Yaro is a success story of how coupling the power of blogging with true marketing skills can make a really good living.
Neither Yaro nor I could remember who contacted whom first or when, but I do remember at the time that Yaro was still traveling. He spent about 8 months traveling around the world and, during that time, he maintained his blog business from afar and on an incredibly part-time basis. That’s one of the beauties of internet business, though. Location flexibility.
Thanks to Yaro for the opportunity to share with his audience. And, head on over to his blog to listen to the interview.
Enjoy!
