Personal
Wanna Meet Up At BlogWorld Expo?
Are you going to BlogWorld? It is taking place in Las Vegas, October 15-17.
Blogworld is the industry’s largest conference geared specifically to blogging. If you are interested in blogging or making money as a blogger (and you probably are if you’re reading this blog), then you really should go.
There is really no comparison between reading blogs and actually immersing yourself in it IN PERSON for a few days.
Better yet, I’d like to meet you. If you’re going to be at BlogWorld, I’d like to arrange an informal meetup somewhere where we can chat in person and hang out. I especially want to extend this invite to any of my Blog Masters Club students who are attending BlogWorld.
So, about those logistics…
I know it takes time and money to travel. You have to get yourself to Las Vegas, for one. There is also a cost to attend BlogWorld. The weekend pass is going to set you back $395. If you run a quick Google search for coupon codes, you should be able to find some which will save you 10%-20% on attendance.
In my opinion, the cost of the event is worth it. You’ve got full days of instructional sessions plus exhibits. Plus, you’re going to have fantastic networking opportunities with leading bloggers out there. It is almost a “who’s who” of blogging at this conference.
As for the hotel, that’s up to you. BlogWorld has special room rates set up at the Las Vegas Hilton and two others. Personally, I’m going to be staying at the Hilton. It is an easy overhead train ride to the convention center. Even though the Hilton is right next door to the convention center, it is a lot further away than it looks. Trust me.
But, I’m staying at the Hilton for only $69/night. The Courtyard is only $79/night and includes free Internet (you have to pay a daily charge for internet at the Hilton).
I’m flying in on Wednesday and I’ll be leaving on Sunday. So, if you’re coming, let me know and we can arrange a meetup! Perhaps at one of the bars in the Hilton.
I look forward to meeting you in person in Las Vegas.
Official: My Wife Is Pregnant
In the middle of the Blog Masters Club launch, I leaked the fact on Twitter that my wife was pregnant with our #2.

25 [More] Random Things About Dave
Back in March, I did a post entitled 25 Random Things You Probably Didn’t Know About David Risley. It was a lot of fun to write and people seemed to enjoy it. Since I like to take occasional turns into other topics (plus, its Friday
), I’d thought I’d extend that list of 25. Click Here To Continue Reading »
Looking For A Competent Webmaster
I need a dedicated person to handle the technical needs of a full-time blogger and internet marketer (that’d be me).
Must be able to confidently and quickly perform tasks such as:
- Wordpress install, tweaking, theme adjustments, plug-in installing, etc.
- Advanced theme customization with Wordpress (using fully custom themes)
- Creating and formatting sales pages, opt-in pages, etc.
- Creating headers, logos, plus other random graphics as needed. Graphics need to be at a professional level in order to sustain company image online.
- Installing/customizing Amember Pro (membership site software)
- Setting up/running split tests and other conversion tests
- Making tweaks as necessary to vBulletin
- Performing script upgrades without affecting live sites adversely
Must have the following qualifications:
- Have excellent spoken and written English
- Excellent HTML, CSS, PHP & Mysql skills
- Be able to think on your feet and make things work rather than only being able to modify things that others created.
Ideally you are able to combine artistic design with solid coding skills, while also having enough understanding of internet marketing to create pages to facilitate conversion.
You should get things done quickly, and report on your progress.
Please send in your resume / cover later with sample work. This will NOT be an employment relationship, but rather an independent contractor. We will agree on any monetary compensation, but I would also like to offer personal access to myself so that I can help you grow your business online. You help me, I help you.
You will also have access to all of my products and future products as long as we continue working together. I’d like to offer a potential opportunity rather than a mere J-O-B.
Here is something else I want you to do as part of the application process:
I want you to create a letter detailing:
- How would you rate your communication/english skills on a scale of 1-10?
- Why does this job appeal to you?
- Why are you seeking new employment?
- Tell me what you feel your special qualifications, talents or skills are that make you uniquely qualified for this position. In other words, why should I select you over and above the other applicants?
- What is your blogging/marketing experience?
- Tell me about yourself, your likes, dislikes, strengths, hobbies anything not listed on your resume.
To apply, please send your information to me at drisley – at – pcmech.com.
Expressions of Gratitude
As of today, I am 31 years old. Yes, it is my birthday. I thought I’d take a break from “make money online” posts and just get personal.
As I write this post, I’m at home with my little girl, Elyana. I’m sitting on the MacBook Pro and Elyana is playing all over me. In fact, I grabbed Photobooth and took a quick photo of us from the Isight webcam: Click Here To Continue Reading »
Tampa Tweetup Sees Record Crowd, Media Coverage
Yesterday afternoon, I took the family over to the Florida Aquarium for the Tampa Tweetup. It went extremely well. Estimates are that we had around 250 people attend the event – which leaves me speculating on whether this is perhaps the largest in-person tweetup that has occurred anywhere so far.

Internet Mastermind Fun [Video]
My man, Tony Teegarden, put together a cool video of the happenings at my local Tampa Bay mastermind meeting, held this last Tuesday. We had a great turnout (about 24 in total, I think).
