I have a few coaching clients that I'm sure already know what I tell them.

In some cases, I've realized that they WANT to be told what to do. Knowing isn't enough – they need the specific direction. They want to be managed.

What do you think about that?

You couldn't have summed up that concept any better! Not to endorse a certain shoe company, but the quote that say most often to people is “just do it.”

Psychologically though, I think some people who are very bright but “talk it up” instead of doing it, have this underlying fear of failure. It takes a lot of fortitude to put 110% effort into something with the possibility you're not actually going to succeed at at.
