Moving Your Feedburner Feeds to Google
Feedburner was bought by Google some time ago, yet nothing changed. Well, they’re forcing the issue now and they are now officially requiring all Feedburner users to migrate their feeds over to Google. The good thing is that they’ve made the process pretty automatic and painless. The bad thing (and I have yet to see it, but am bracing for it) is that it might make my RSS stats drop off the face of the earth. We shall see.
In any event, I went through it and documented it:
- Log into your Feedburner account.
- Press the link to move your account now. It is at the top and in a little yellow, highlighted box.
- Confirm which Google account to move them, too. If you are not already logged into Google, you will do so. If you don’t have a Google account, you will need to create one.
- You’ll then get a confirmation screen which lists all your RSS feeds and confirm your Google account. Hit “Move Feeds” to start the process.
- You’ll get a little animated progress indicator as it does it’s thing. Just wait for it.
- You’ll get a “Success!” message when it is done. It will also show you this message…
When I click the link to see my account, sure enough I am sitting on feedburner.google.com. You will also get a confirmation email which lists all your feeds. Now, all your feeds are using feeds2.feedburner.com. If what they say is correct, though, I shouldn’t have to update anything. I will probably go ahead and start modifying my blogs to use the new address, though. I don’t always want to be dependent on their re-direct.
It does not appear yet as if Feedburner is integrated visually with the other Google services. I’m hoping that they will do that so that I can just click into my feeds rather than having to separately visit the new feedburner address.
Let’s hope Google doesn’t mess up a good thing! Please, not another Jaiku!
