Traffic Geyser Responds [More Coming Later]

I have written a few posts here about online video and I talked about Traffic Geyser and TubeMogul. In my write-ups, I have been quite clear about the fact that I prefer TubeMogul.

As I said, though, in my original article, I am willing to be wrong. It is in that light that I want to give a fair shake to Traffic Geyser. Now, as I write this post, I am about to go on vacation. So, I don’t have time to give full attention to this matter quite yet. I will, however, give a full response from Traffic Geyser when I return.

Yes, Mike Koenigs from Traffic Geyser contacted me privately in response to my post. He gave me a very well-written response and, I must say, I was very impressed. Here is a small snippet from Mike:

One is that you suggest our user base is “probably internet marketers”.

That is simply not true. We have thousands of customers worldwide – in virtually every business imaginable.

They’re not spammers.

They’re small businesses, big businesses and everything in between.

They’re people like you and me who are doing their best to get noticed and survive in a challenging economy where it’s increasingly difficult to get noticed.

They’re work at home moms and dads, big international companies, celebrities and more.

They’re distributing all sorts of content. And believe it or not, it’s not just a bunch of spam.

Please don’t take it from this snippet that Mike was being argumentative with me. Most definitely not! But, he was certainly refuting a claim I made on this site.

So, time is short here. I wanted to put this out there so that my readers are aware that there is another side to my argument and I’d like to allow Mike to make that argument here on David Risley dot com.

No, I am not making a switch to Traffic Geyser right now. I am very happy with TubeMogul.

However, I want to provide a fair shake and not give unfair criticism without a chance to respond in full. So, Mike, I appreciate your reply. We’ll be in touch when I get back, and I will provide more insight into Traffic Geyser at that time.

    I look forward to finding-out more… as for me, the price alone considering the price of TubeMogul made me not join them. If they want to use us for a case study, we have over 200 videos so far and growing every week… I would be open to it (hint-hint).

    All I know is I have wasted about 2 hours searching for a phone number or the answers to my questions about traffic geyser.

    There wasn’t hardly anything to speak of in the forum either.

    I’d like to be convinced of the quality and features in question
    but damn – no contact form – no phone number – nothing.

    Hi, I do disagree about support at Traffic Geyser. Just submit them a ticket and they will get back to you really quick. I live in New Zealand and have even received replies and their 2am! All the tickets I have sent in and receive helpful, sensible and easy to understand answers (important to me due to be almost computer illiterate!) in a very timely fashion.

    So am I prepared to pay for this level of support? You bet I am!

    Traffic Geyser and TubeMogul both are good services. I prefer and use Traffic Geyser (platinum) regularly since has the ability to submit to over 90 good sites, versus TubeMogul’s 24. There’s absolutely no comparison in volume, distribution of content, and functionality. More sites = more exposure.

    Never had a problem with their support desk either. They have always been prompt in response. I gladly pay their monthly fee since it’s made me a small fortune and helped brand myself well in certain niches.

    Traffic Geyser and TubeMogul are both great services but be careful. Choosing one really depends on your goals, content, and level of distribution needed. Everyone should value their time. Uploading a video once and having it submitted all over the web gives me more exposure and extra time to write articles or make phone calls, etc. So I do like both services.

    However, recent changes in youtube may cause difficulties. Recently many of my fellow internet marketers were kicked off youtube indefinitely. Youtube is by far the number one video site in the world and it’s a great marketing tool for your business. Traffic Geyser and TubeMogul both allow you to uncheck youtube as a site to use when uploading. You may want to do it until this all unfolds. Then again the other sites tend to follow the leader when it comes to this type of thing. They have not yet.

    I sent an email to both companies to get their thoughts and I don’t have a response to report yet.

    Yes I know many of the people kicked off were also doing other things such as using bots to pump up their views and doing other things to artificially rank their videos higher. The point is anything that is unnatural is disliked by Google. Google has more PHDs in computer science and software than any company in the world. If you can buck the system and you are smarter than they are then your are a genius. Be careful.

    Affiliate marketers, be very careful with Tubemogul. I had my Tubemogul account banned after uploading extremely innocuous video content, and here was the explanation direct from Tubemogul customer service representative Jessica Chadie:

    “Jessica Chadie, Feb 15 18:14 (PST):

    Hi Dennis Rosenberg,

    Your account has been disabled due to your affiliate marketing content. Our video site partners expect that we will only send relevant content to their sites. In many cases (as a third-party distributor) we are held to a higher standard than if you uploaded directly to the site. This is not a critique of your content; rather we are just complying with the Terms of Service of our partner sites.

    I have just signed up with Traffic Geyser and wanted to put my opinion in the melting pot.
    Like most people heard good things TG. I opted for TG to auto register me with each web site that saves 2-4 hours, it took 4 days to get my account up and running. I then found it fiddly to submit ( as always your just one click away from success). I then loaded up a few videos and articles and the next day I was on page one on google twice for the keywords I used. The Jury is out at the moment but I am quietly confident it will work out. Watch this space……

    I agree that during my trial with Traffic Geyser that I had some success. But the success was mostly due to the fact that only about half of my video submissions cleared onto the sites, there were many glitches that I just couldn't get resolved. It definitely wasn't a black box that prints money, lol.

    It was the mere fact that my videos were being accepted by a few video sites that I had such great success. At that point I thought, why not find an alternative to submitting to these sites and save myself $100 a month.

    Jury is still out. It is still time consuming, and like yourself James some sites just you just cannot get on. I have had to manually go into the accounts to correct. Also some of the text on article sites does not convert properly and you do not always get a back link, with some sites willing to accept your article to sell the link to your competition.

    Having read that back the future doesn’t look bright does it?

    I was once a Traffic Geyser user.  It came with another marketing program I was involved with.  Yes it was easy to use and quick.  I did like the idea of being able to also send to podcast sites and directories and also many blogs and article directories.  The automated video tool was nice because it would time the visuals to match the music or other audio.  There were many other features (like lead capture page creator) I liked.  When my time was up I did not renew and began using PixelPipe
    which I have liked.  It also allows many of the same video sites and article sites as well as blogs and social networks.
